18th February 2007: First Holy Communion of Adam, Simon and Christopher
On Sunday 18th February, Adam, Simon and Christopher made their First Holy Communion in our church. The brothers had been preparing for this day for a number of weeks having made their first confessions just before Christmas 2006. The boys' younger brother, parents, grandparents were there to celebrate with them and the family also led the bidding prayers and took part in the offertory procession. In celebration, the family kindly provided a cake for the parish to enjoy after Mass. This was an important day for the parish because this was the culmination of several months of instruction provided, for the first time, by members of our own parish and leading to children receiving their First Holy Communion in our church as part of our celebration of Sunday Mass.
1st July 2007: First Holy Communion of Ellie Biggs, Sophie Ritchie Yates, Liam Russell and David Doll
On Sunday 1st July, Ellie Biggs, Sophie Ritchie Yates, Liam Russell and David Doll made their First Holy Communion in our church. This was the culmination of a number of weeks of hard work from the communicants who made their first confessions at the end of April.
Ellie, Sophie, Liam and David helped to plan the service, selecting the hymns and preparing and reading the bidding prayers. They also brought up the gifts during the offertory procession and members of their families read the readings, assisted the church wardens, took part in the offertory procession and were part of the instrumental group who provided musical accompaniment for the hymns. A special order of service was prepared for the occasion and can be viewed here. Our best wishes and prayers go to the communicants and their families.
