8th June 2008: First Holy Communion of Liam, Hannah, Kathryn, Natalie and Rebecca
On Sunday 8th June, Liam, Hannah, Kathryn, Natalie and Rebecca made their First Holy Communion in our church. This was the culmination of a number of weeks of hard work from the communicants who made their first confessions at the end of March. The children helped to plan the service, selecting the hymns and preparing and reading the bidding prayers. They also brought up the gifts during the offertory procession and members of their families read the readings, took the collection and were part of the instrumental group who provided musical accompaniment for the hymns. Organ accompaniment was provided by Chris Kearl and our choir sang a special arrangement of "The Apple Tree" after Communion. A special order of service was prepared for the occasion and can be viewed here. After Mass, the parish celebrated the occasion with a slice of cake and a drink in our parish hall. Our best wishes and prayers go to the communicants, their families and friends.
