First Confirmation Mass held at Blessed Robert Grissold 6th April 2008

On Sunday 6th April 2008, our parish welcomed Bishop William Kenney,Auxiliary Bishop of Birmingham, to celebrate Mass and administer the sacrament of confirmation on nine of our young people. This event was the culmination of much work by the parish, and in particular by Teresa Green & Madeleine Peat who were responsible for providing instruction to these young people on their journey to Confirmation.

The confirmandi helped to plan the service and read the readings, psalm and bidding prayers during the Mass. Music was provided by the parish's instrumental group, Linda Chesshire on the organ and both the adult and childrens choirs whose combined rendition of 'Let all Creation Sing' by David Ogden earned them and musicians Clare Green and Linda Chesshire a round of applause. After Mass, Bishop William stayed on for a celebration in the parish room and chatted to parishioners and the confirmandi. Huge thanks must go to Teresa Green & Madeleine Peat for their efforts in preparing our young people and all the other members of the parish who worked so hard to make the service and celebration such a success.
