So Easter comes round again bringing with it spring lambs, daffodils and, of course, the Easter Bunny! Easter is the busiest time of year for church and priest alike with four major festivals within eight days; from the excitement of Palm Sunday, through the peace of Maundy Thursday, to the pain of Good Friday and ending with the joy of Easter Day itself.

Which of those days speaks to you the most? Probably, this will depend on what you feel and think on each of the days.

For those of us who have had the pleasure of visiting Jerusalem, and have walked the road from Bethany to the city walls, Palm Sunday has a special meaning. "Hosanna" the people cried; "save us and help us". We still share their hope for change today.

For some, Maundy Thursday is more meaningful, because it was on that day Jesus established the most important sacrament of the church, founded the very roots of the church itself and ordained his apostles as ministers. "This is my body" must have been shocking to them. It is all too easy to hear these words without understanding what it took out of Jesus.

The events of Good Friday are almost too painful to endure. I know some people who avoid going to church because of the emotion it stirs within them. "Father, forgive" can never be said too often.

Finally we reach Easter Day.

Amidst the chocolate and increasing commercialisation, we rejoice in our risen Saviour, who is risen, risen indeed, for us and all the world. These are not events of the past but promises for today: yes, it is true. Easter Day is a day of hope. In spite of financial problems and other hardships of life we endure, we come together to imbibe the true spirit of hope. I wish that this Easter brings you peace and hope.

It is great that you are here this Easter . We welcome all of you. But ask yourself the question - Why are we here? Perhaps it is because you want to be with a group of people who have great hope. God Bless and have a Happy Easter.
